Glossybox Pink Diamond Limited Edition Box, $40 ($35 for subscribers)
Melba is one of the best bunny models I've had! She's so good at sitting still for a minute so I can take her picture. She looks beautiful in the Pink Diamonds Glossybox!
Glossybox puts out a Mother's Day box each year and this year's is the Pink Diamonds Limited Edition box. I loved the 2015 Mother's Day box, but the 2016 was so bad I didn't even bother ordering it. They were giving the 206 box away as free gifts with purchase later in the year. This year's looked fabulous, though, so I had to snap it up. It's still available, so be sure to grab one before they sell out. I don't know that it will make it to you in time for Mother's Day if you order at this point, but it would make a nice present to yourself.
Here's what was in the Pink Diamond box:
- Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Veil (full size, worth $30)
- Vichy Laboratories Minéral 89 Hyaluronic Acid Face Moisturizer (full size, worth $29.50)
- Nudestix Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil in Stiletto (full size, worth $24)
- Adoratherapy Vitality Chakra Boost Roll-on (full size, worth $30)
- Zuii Organic Certified Organic Flora Eyebrow Definer in Coco (full size, worth $29.50)
- NCLA Nail Polish Pinks in Pink Champagne (full size, worth $16)
The limited edition box was worth $159. All six items were full size! I was a little surprised that three of the six products were makeup. There were one skincare item, one perfume, and one nail polish. Usually the Mother's Day box is heavier on skincare, but I'm liking the mix of products this year.
The Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Veil is a soft champagne highlighter. It goes on smoothly and gives me beautiful shimmer. I've heard others say that it is very subtle and works better as a setting powder. While it isn't a blindingly shiny highlighter, I do see a lot of shimmer and can't imagine using it as a setting powder. This held up all day on me and looked great. It's quite sheer, so it should work for most, if not all, skin colors.
The Vichy Laboratories Minéral 89 Hyaluronic Acid Face Moisturizer is a very lightweight gel moisturizer. It absorbs quickly and didn't make my skin feel all that hydrated. 89% of the formula is mineralizing thermal water. This might be a good moisturizer for summer, but I prefer a heavier cream moisturizer.
The colors of the Nudestix Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil varied, so I was worried about which color I would get. Nudes have been so big in beauty boxes recently, so I thought I would get a boring color. I was happy to find Stiletto, which Nudestix calls "a sexy red-hot lip." I've swatched it above so you can see what it looks like as a lip color and a cheek color. You'd want to blend it out even more as a cheek color than I showed in the right picture above, but it gives you a good idea of what it looks like. I liked it both as a lipstick and a blush. I have tons of red lipstick and no other red-toned blush, so I've been using it more often as a blush, but this will be great for when I'm traveling and need to pack light. The staying power was quite impressive. This was my favorite product in the box.
The scent of the ADORAtherapy Chakra Boost Roll-on varied. I got Vitality, which is a mix of jojoba, lavender, patchouli, cedarwood, ginger, clove, oakmoss, and sandalwood essential oils. It definitely has a hippie smell to it and it wasn't for me at all. I'm not sure if I would have liked any of the other scents better. To use this, they recommend you rub it on your palms and breathe it in, or you can apply it to wrists or pressure points or use it for massage. I'll definitely be passing this along to a friend who will appreciate it more.
I had never heard of Zuii Organics before. I wasn't all that excited to see yet another brow pencil in a box. Glossybox seems to love to send out brow pencils. The first time I used it, when I was trying to swatch it for this picture, I was having a hard time getting it to work. The color just wasn't coming off. Once I worked at it for a minute, it started working and I haven't had a problem since. It goes on easily and evenly and made my brows look fabulous. The color worked well for me. I was dumb and got a little too close to my eyebrow with my Dermaflash and lost a couple of hairs from the inner part of one of my eyebrows, so this has helped me cover that up. This will keep me from looking too weird while I wait for those hairs to grow back in!
The final product was ncLA Pinks Nail Polish in Pink Champagne. It's hard to tell in the picture, but it looks very shimmery in the bottle and somewhat shimmery on the nail. It's a beautiful medium pink color. I love ncLA nail polish, so I'm always happy to get a new one. Their nail polish goes on smoothly and evenly, dries pretty quickly, and lasts on me for a couple of days. A couple days is good for me because I'm quite hard on my nails. Best of all, this polish is vegan, cruelty-free, and 7-free (free of formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP, toluene, camphor, TPHP, and XYLENE).
Overall, I was very happy with the Pink Diamonds box. The Vichy moisturizer and the ADORAtherapy Chakra Boost weren't for me, but I loved the ncLA nail polish, the Josie Maran highlighter, the Zuii Organics brow pencil, and the Nudestix lip and cheek pencil. This was a big improvement over last year's Mother's Day box! I know a lot of people would have preferred to have seen a little more skincare in the box, but I thought the box composition was perfect.
Did anyone else get the Pink Diamonds box? If so, what did you think? Which Nudestix color and ADORAtherapy scent did you get?
