PopSugar Must Have Girls' Night Out Box ($24.95; no longer available)
Mr. Emmett always loves the PopSugar boxes because they're some of the only boxes I get that he can fit into! He's such a cutie!
PopSugar Must Have is a monthly lifestyle box that contains not only beauty products, but also jewelry, accessories, home goods, and the like. Occasionally, they have mystery boxes made up of products from past monthly boxes. They recently had the Girls' Night Out and Girls' Night In Mystery Boxes available and I got one of each. These boxes are no longer available. I'll post the review of the Girls' Night In box in a couple of days.
Here's what I got:
- Kendra Scott Elaina Chain Bracelet in Rose Gold and White Pearl (worth $50)
- Stowaway Cosmetics The Dawn to Dusk Eye Palette (full size, worth $26)
- The Original Mini MakeUp Eraser in Pink (worth $12)
- Cargo Cosmetics Blush in The Big Easy (full size, worth $26)
- Knock Knock Are You Ready (For Your Close-up?) Compact (worth $10)
- Smith and Cult Nail Polish in 1972 (full size, worth $18)
- Winky Lux Lip Velour in Bunny (full size, worth $14)
- Henri Bendel Striped Short Umbrella (worth $58)
- Lalicious Brown Sugar Vanilla Shower Oil and Bubble Bath (full size, worth $28)
The PopSugar Must Have Girls' Night Out box was worth $242. That's close to ten times the amount I paid, so there's no question that the value is there! I got a jewelry item, a bath item, a nail polish, two beauty tools, an accessory, and three makeup items, so there was a great product mix.
The Kendra Scott Elaina Chain Bracelet in Rose Gold and White Pearl was originally in the November 2016 box. This bracelet was also in the Girls' Night In box, so I know have three of these bracelets. I'll give two of them away. First up is the Kendra Scott Elaina Chain Bracelet in Rose Gold and White Pearl. PopSugar loves Kendra Scott jewelry, so expect to get something from them if you're subscribed to PopSugar for any length of time. The bracelet is made of brass plated with 14k rose gold. On the Kendra Scott website, you can choose from tons of different stone types and colors, so I'm a little sad they chose a boring white stone, but I understand they did it so it would go with most everything. It's hard to see in the pictures, but there's a metal piece that the two ends of the bracelet go through. You can move the piece up and down to make the bracelet looser or tighter. It's possible to do on your own, but it's not incredibly easy. You can see the two dangling ends with little metal charms, for lack of a better word, on the ends in the picture on the right. I think it's kind of cute how they did that. The chain itself seems a little on the cheap side to me, but I like the bracelet. It'll be a good everyday bracelet for me.
The Stowaway Cosmetics The Dawn to Dusk Palette was also in the November 2016 box. This is teeny! It's about the size of a credit card. If you're not familiar with Stowaway Cosmetics, they make full size products that are quite small because most people don't use up an entire eye palette or tube of lipstick. It prevents a lot of waste. I got their lipstick in a PopSugar box once and liked it, so I was happy to try their eyeshadow. The pigment on the light and medium shades wasn't impressive. I had to really build up the colors to get the swatches you see above. You can't see Shade 1 on me at all! The colors are a little boring for my taste. This won't be my go-to palette, but I can see using this when I travel and need some good basic eyeshadow shades but have limited space.
The MakeUp Eraser Mini is a soft microfiber cloth that you wet with warm water and then use to remove your makeup. It worked better than I expected! It removed almost all my makeup and I didn't have to scrub hard. You can throw these in the wash after use. I'd probably want to get a few of these as you'd need to wash them quite often.
The Cargo Cosmetics Powder Blush in The Big Easy was originally in the August 2016 PopSugar box. I didn't get that box, but I got another mystery box in the fall that had this blush in it. This is a beautiful "sheer pink with gold and grapefruit undertones," as Cargo's website describes it. This is somewhat reminiscent of NARS Orgasm, but it has a little more pink to it. I love this color and find that it holds up all day. This color is very flattering on me, but it is a very pale shade, so it may not work so well on those of us who have medium or dark complexions.
The Knock Knock Are You Ready (For Your Close-up?) Compact was in the June 2016 PopSugar. The mirror has a regular side and a magnified side. It's kind of boring looking and isn't really my style, but I'll keep it in my purse. It's quite sturdy feeling and would be easy to clean, so it can handle life in the bottom of my purse.
The Smith and Cult Nail Polish in 1972, a rose gold foil, was in the December PopSugar Mini box. Sadly, the Mini box no longer exists. This is a beautiful color and it has been sold out for quite some time, so this has been a popular item. I've heard so many great things about Smith and Cult, but I believe this is the first time I've tried their products. This gave me excellent coverage and the color was perfect. I've swatched it on a fake nail above. This chipped a couple of days after I put it on, but that's pretty average for nail polish on me.
The Winky Lux Lip Velour in Bunny was in the December PopSugar box. This is the second one I've gotten, so I'll be passing it along to a friend. This has fabulous pigment and pretty good staying power. The color is red with a bit of pink in it. I'm not quite sure why it is called Bunny. This was my first time trying a Winky Lux product, but I thought it was of great quality, so I'm a fan. The packaging is very cute, although the rounded bottom makes it so you can't set the lipstick down and have it stand straight up. The lipstick tube almost looks like a vibrator.
The Henri Bendel umbrella came in the October PopSugar box. There were a lot of complaints about the October box because this umbrella had been a free gift with $120 purchase from Henri Bendel, so many subscribers felt that a free gift with purchase wasn't really something they wanted to get in a PopSugar. The value PopSugar listed, $58, is questionable. The logo is on the big side, but it's an attractive, well-made umbrella, so I'll be using it.
The final product was the Lalicious Brown Sugar Vanilla Shower Oil and Bubble Bath, which was also in the October PopSugar box. While I had been wanting to try this and was happy to get this in a box, a bubble bath would have been much more fitting for the Girls' Night In box than the Girls' Night Out box! This has a strong brown sugar vanilla scent, quite a bit strong than I expected, but it isn't bad. This didn't make as many bubbles as I would have liked, so it's probably better as a shower oil.
This wasn't a bad mystery box. It wasn't what I expected when I heard about the Girls' Night Out Mystery Box, but the products were still fun and some of the items were new to me. The Cargo blush, the Smith and Cult Nail Polish, and the Lalicious bubble bath were my favorite products, but I also liked the Kendra Scott bracelet, the Winky Lux lipstick, the Henri Bendel umbrella, and the MakeUp Eraser. The Knock Knock mirror wasn't quite my style, but it will be useful. My least favorite product was the Stowaway Cosmetics palette. It just didn't have the pigment I need. Overall, though, I'm happy with the box. It was definitely worth $25!
