Little Henry loves that the products in Goodbeing aren't tested on his cousins!  I love his pose in this picture.  He is just the cutest little thing.

Goodbeing is a monthly natural beauty box.  Subscribers fill out extensive profiles upon subscribing.  Goodbeing seems to be one of the few beauty box companies that actually pays attention to those profiles.  It's clear they put a lot of thought into curating the perfect box for each subscriber.  Each month, you'll get four to five products.  Besides the expected makeup, hair care, and skincare products, you also sometimes get health foods and supplements.  Goodbeing recently began allowing subscribers to choose one to two products per month.  You don't have to choose any products if you don't want, but it's nice to have the option.

Here's what I got in my January Goodbeing box:

My January Goodbeing was worth $44.33.  That's definitely on the lower end of Goodbeing box values, but it's still slightly more than double what I paid for it, so I'm happy with the value.  I got two makeup products, two bath products, and a deodorant.  The deodorant and shaving cream were the two products I chose for January.

First up was one of my product choices, Kaia Naturals The Takesumi Detox Bamboo Charcoal Deodorant in Juicy Bamboo.  I wasn't sure what bamboo would smell like, but it's a nice, fresh scent.  This deodorant is supposed to draw impurities out of your armpit with the charcoal and it says it may make you smell worse for a couple of weeks while it is doing that.  I was a little skeptical of that claim and I don't sweat much, especially in winter, so I wasn't too worried about it.  Of course, a couple of days after I start using it, I notice a gross, sweaty smell that I usually don't have.  I like this product in theory, but I wasn't willing to smell bad for a couple of weeks, so I stopped using it.  If you can get over the initial stinkiness, it's probably not bad.  Has anyone else tried this?  Does it stop making you smell bad after a couple of weeks?

The second product I chose was the Gaffer and Child Shaving Butter.  I don't get shaving cream often in Beauty Boxes, so I figured I might as well try this.  This shave butter has a thin cream consistency and a lavender lemon scent.  It was very moisturizing and gave me a close, smooth shave.  I loved this shave cream and would recommend it if you are in the market for one.

I find that Goodbeing is usually pretty good about using my profile to determine which scents I would love, but they failed this time.  The Mi-Me Gray Label Vetiver Dark Sugar Scrub smells horrible.  It has an earthy smell that I do not like at all.  I used it once and it was exfoliating, but I hated the scent so much.  Vetiver is in a lot of perfumes and I usually don't mind it, but this is a straight vetiver and vanilla scent and the combination of the two just did not work for me.

Finally, Goodbeing included two BB balm samples, one in light, one in medium.  Goodbeing knows my skin is light, so they really could have skipped the medium as it was way too dark.  The DeVita Moisture Tint is a BB balm, which is a lightweight tinted moisturizer.  If you have good skin, you can use this to even out your complexion and skip the foundation.  I need heavier coverage, so I use it more as a primer.  The Light worked better than I expected and gave me a good base that was very moisturizing.  I didn't bother putting the Medium on my face as I knew there was no way it would work.  BB balms really aren't my thing as I do need better coverage, but I'll use this while I have it.

This definitely wasn't the best Goodbeing I've gotten.  In fact, it's probably one of the worst.  I liked the Gaffer and Child Shave Butter a lot and I like the Kaia Naturals deodorant in theory (just don't like the several weeks of stink).  The DeVita BB balm was okay, but doesn't work that well for my complexion.  The Mi-Me body scrub was just horrible.  It worked fine and if you like vetiver and vanilla, you would probably like this, but I just couldn't tolerate the scent.  Some months are better than others for beauty boxes and I usually love my Goodbeing, so I can handle an off month.  I hope next month will be better.
