This sweet baby bun is so affectionate and adorable.  He reminds me of Emmett when he was a baby.  He was expecting a BunnyFix box, so he was a little disappointed when he learned this was a BeautyFix box.

DermStore BeautyFix is a subscription box that sends subscribers $100+ worth of products each month.  All subscribers receive the same products with perhaps some scent or color variation.  Most months, you'll get multiple skincare products, a makeup product, a beauty tool, and sometimes a hair or nail product.  You'll get at least six products, sometimes as many as eleven.  BeautyFix is very heavy on skincare and is great for women who are 30+ and interested in fighting signs of aging.

Here's what I got this month:

The January box was worth $112.86.  That's on the lower end of values for BeautyFix.  This was a weird month for BeautyFix!  Besides the low value, we didn't get a beauty tool and we got two hair products.  I kind of like the monthly beauty tool from BeautyFix, but I understand it's not guaranteed.  We only got seven products this month, four of which were skincare, two of which were hair care, and one makeup product.

We got an MDSolarSciences eye cream a few months ago and now we get the moisturizer.  BeautyFix repeats brands a lot, so that's not surprising at all.  This contains sunblock, caffeine, and vitamin C.  Sunblock might seem a little weird for winter, but it's good to protect your skin from the sun year-round.  Caffeine reduces puffiness and vitamin C is brightening, so this moisturizer does a bit of everything.  This is a teeny sample, so I was surprised to see it is one half of the full size!  This was non-greasy and very moisturizing.

If you subscribe to beauty boxes for any length of time, you'll eventually get a Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask sample.  I've gotten tons of samples of this product, but this is the first time I've gotten a full size version.  This will make your hair soft and shiny and will minimize breakage.  My hair really needed this, so I was happy to see this in the box.  To use it, you shampoo your hair, then apply the mask, wait three to five minutes, then rinse off.  I like that this only takes a few minutes, so I can put it in my hair and then wash my face and body and shave while, then rinse it off.  I love how soft this makes my hair.

Dermalogica is another brand you will often see in BeautyFix boxes.  This is a brand new product from Dermalogica, so it's nice DermStore is letting us try this out before almost everyone else.  I assumed this was a cream exfoliant, but it is a fine grey powder.  You mix a little powder with water to form a paste, then rub it on your skin and rinse.  It is very exfoliating, but gentle enough to use daily if you desire.  It contains charcoal to help draw impurities out of the skin and it fights signs of aging.  I really like this face scrub a lot.

Demarché Labs is yet another brand you can expect to see regularly in BeautyFix.  This is a teeny sample, but the full size costs $125!  It's a serum that is supposed to combat signs of aging.  I used it for a few days, but it's hard to see how well it works during such a short period of time.  This stuff smells horrible.  I'm not sure what ingredient makes it smell so bad, but the smell really bothers me.  I definitely wouldn't spend $125 on it!

I've gotten several Nick Chavez products in DermStore, and we got another one this month.  SoftFlocker is a thick cream that is for styling, texturizing, and taming hair.  I normally don't use styling creams, but my hair was looking dry and had tons of flyaways, so I gave it a try.  This has a waxy feel to it, which makes sense as it contains beeswax, and, at first, it felt like it weighed my hair down a lot and I regretted using it.  Once I worked it through my hair, though, it didn't weigh it down at all and kept my flyaways in check.  I could see how it would be easy to use this for some light hold to style your hair and give it some texture.

Eau Thermale Avène Thermal Spring Water is something you will get in a beauty box eventually if you haven't already.  This is just water in a can that comes from a thermal spring.  It's supposed to contain vitamins and minerals that are good for your skin.  It is cool and refreshing, so I can see how it would be good in the summer, but, again, it's just water in a can.  I know some people love this stuff, but I've always thought it was a little silly.

Swatch of Manna Kadar Cosmetics LipLocked Priming Lipstick in Lust

The final product was the Manna Kadar Cosmetics LipLocked Priming Lipstick in Lust.  DermStore noted on the product information card that colors may vary.  This is a medium neutral with an slight orangey tone to it.  This color was extraordinarily unflattering on me and I can't imagine it would be a good color on most people.  I couldn't bring myself to wear it outside of the house.  I don't know why this color is called Lust as it is the least lusty color to ever exist.  Did this color work for anyone?

This definitely wasn't my favorite DermStore BeautyFix box, but it wasn't horrible.  I liked the Nick Chavez SoftFlocker, the Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant, the Briogeo hair mask, and the MDSolarSciences moisturizer, so most of the products were good.  The Manna Kadar lipstick was just horrible on me, the Avène water seems silly and pointless, and the Demarché Labs serum probably worked fine but just smelled terrible.

What did you think of the January BeautyFix box?  Did anyone get a different color of the lipstick?
