Amor Naturals, $19.99 per quarter plus $4.99 shipping, US only
This adorable 3-week-old Holland Lop bunny was pretending to be a loaf of bread in my June Amor Naturals box! She just sat there like that and didn't move. She's very calm and photogenic for a teeny baby bun!
Amor Naturals is a quarterly subscription box that contains four to five deluxe size samples of homemade bath and beauty products. Amor Naturals is a small company and they make all of their products themselves. The subscription is heavier on bath and body products and usually doesn't have much in the way of makeup. If you want high quality, handmade products from a small business, Amor Naturals is the perfect subscription for you. They also sell full size products, but, if you want to try them before you buy them, the subscription box is the best way to do it.
Amor Naturals sent me this box free of charge for review.
Here's what subscribers got in the Summer 2016 Amor Naturals box:
- Amor Naturals Cucumber Honeydew Hydrating Facial Mist (deluxe sample, worth $8.50; full size worth $16.99)
- Amor Naturals Grapefruit Gelato Coconut Oil Body Polish (sample size, full size price TBA)
- Amor Naturals Lavender Mint Artisan Soap (sample size, worth ~$3; full size costs $12)
- Amor Naturals Bella Glow Oil (small sample, worth $6.78; full size worth $39.99)
- Amor Naturals Dolce Moisture Lip Shimmer (sample size, full size price TBA)
Amor Naturals makes all their products in small batches and has only a limited selection of full size products available in their shop at any particular time. The products above will be sold in full size versions eventually, but they aren't available quite yet, so I don't have exact prices or sizes to figure out the value of the box. If you're interested in buying any of the full size products, check Amor's site often! Their products often sell out quickly.
The Summer 2016 theme was Roman Holiday. The products have Mediterranean fruits in them. It's an unexpected theme, but it's cute and it works. I love the design on the product info card!
The Cucumber Honeydew Hydrating Facial Mist can be used as a light moisturizer on hot days when you don't want to put any heavy creams on your face or you can just use it to give your face a midday pick-me-up. I recommend storing this in your fridge so it will be extra cool and refreshing. While facial mists aren't usually my thing because you're just spraying water on your face, this mist contains glycerin to moisturize your skin and vitamins and antioxidants from the cucumber and honeydew extracts. It's actually good for your skin! It has a light cucumber scent with a hint of melon to it. This is my favorite of the many facial mists I've tried over the years.
I always love a good sugar scrub, so I was happy to get Amor Naturals' Grapefruit Gelato Coconut Oil Body Polish in this quarter's box. It has a soft, sweet grapefruit scent. The sugar isn't as coarse as the sugar in some scrubs I've tried. I liked that about it because it made the exfoliation very gentle. Not only is it exfoliating, it is also moisturizing because of the shea butter and coconut oil in it. This scrub was my second favorite item in the Summer 2016 box.
I'm usually not much of a bar soap user, but I loved the Lavender Mint Artisan Soap. Lavender is not my favorite scent, but the mint balances it perfectly. I liked the smell of this more than I thought I would. Oftentimes, bar soap can be very drying, but this contains shea butter and olive oil to hydrate your skin. My skin was so soft and smooth after I used this.
The Amor Naturals Glow Oil will give a subtle warm shimmer to your skin and moisturize it at the same time. This contains minerals to give your skin some sparkle, plus caffeine and natural oils to make your skin healthier so it can glow on its own. As you can see in the swatch above, when you first spray it on your skin, it looks really dark. Once you blend it in a bit, it becomes very soft, which you can see in the second swatch above. It's quite shimmery, so a little can really go a long way with this. I'm on the fence about the vanilla bourbon scent, but it's not very strong, so it's still wearable. I love sparkle, so I think this is my favorite product this month, with the sugar scrub coming in a close second.
Finally, there was the Dolce Moisture Lip Shimmer. This added a little bit of shine to my lips, but no real color. There is a slight honeydew melon taste to this. Zinc oxide is on the ingredient list, so this should give your lips a little bit of protection from the sun. Best of all, it feels very hydrating. I like this product, but it's my least favorite of the samples this month. I don't really use lip glosses or balms as I am always wearing lipstick, so this probably won't get used unless Emily wants it.
Overall, I'm very happy with the Summer 2016 Amor Naturals box! I didn't know how they were going to pull off a Roman Holiday theme, but it actually worked really well. All of the products were amazing, but the Bella Glow Oil and the Grapefruit Gelato Coconut Oil Body Polish were my two favorites. I suggest watching the Amor Naturals shop closely so you can snap these products up as soon as the full size versions are available for sale! This box is always fun and you can tell the owners put their hearts into it. The summer box is sold out, but I recommend subscribing now so you can be sure to get the fall box!
