Terra Bella Box Review, May 2016

Terra Bella Box, $34.95 per month plus shipping for full size box; $16.95 per month plus shipping for lite box (ships to most countries; shipping charge is the actual cost of shipping, so it will vary depending on address and weight of that month's box)

Here's one of the babies checking out the April Terra Bella Box at one week of age (right) and now, at five weeks of age, in the May Terra Bella Box (left)!  They're growing too fast!

Terra Bella Box is a monthly box filled with natural makeup, skincare, and bath products that are made by small businesses.  The full size box contains five to six items; the lite box contains two to three items.  Use code BBBEXTRA to get a free extra item in the first box of your full size subscription!  Terra Bella always has thoughtfully curated boxes.  Opening each month's box is always a treat!  All subscribers get the same products in their boxes -- the only variation I've seen is in scent and color.  I love that the companies Terra Bella works with are all small and not something you would find in your local Target, CVS, or Sephora.

Terra Bella currently has a Bridesmaid Box out for wedding season!  Check out my review here.  If you're getting married and need the perfect gift for your bridesmaids, this might just be the thing for you.  Boxes are $30 each if you are getting ten or more, $33.50 if you are buying four to nine boxes, and $35 if you are buying one to four.

Terra Bella Box sent me this box free of charge for review.

Here's what was inside the May Terra Bella Box:

This month's box was worth $71.49!  That's worth double the price of the box, so I am very happy with the value.  Terra Bella is a relatively new subscription box.  In the fall, the boxes were worth around $45.  I love how much the value has gone up over the months!

Each month, Terra Bella includes a card that gives you a spoiler for the following month's box.  The Orglamix Blacquer Shadow and Liner and Orglamix Eco Chic Bent Eyeliner Makeup Brush were the spoilers for May.  The Blacquer can be used as a shadow, eyeliner, or even an eyeshadow primer.  The formula is buildable, so you can get a color anywhere from a medium grey to a medium black.  I couldn't get blackest black from this, so, if that's what you're looking for in an eyeliner, this might not be for you.  If you don't want the darkest, most dramatic black, then this is just what you are looking for.  It went on smoothly and easily with the bent eyeliner brush and stayed on all day.  I haven't tried this as a primer yet.  I thought it was a little strange to see a black primer, but it would be the perfect primer for a smoky eye.  Because it is so buildable, you can even do an ombré look with your shadow.  This is a very versatile little product.

I've seen bent eyeliner brushes before, but I've never used one.  I use pencil liners more than liquid or gel pots.  I couldn't believe how easy this made applying the liner!  If you think liquid and gel liners are beyond your skill level, try this brush.  You'll be able to apply it like a pro.  I have shaky hands and even I can get a perfect line with this brush.

I've tried a couple of Meraki's products in the past and have liked them, so I was looking forward to trying their Rose Lemongrass Toning Mist.  This toner is a mix of witch hazel, rose hydrosol, and lemongrass essential oil.  I can smell the witch hazel and the lemon, but not the rose.  This can either be sprayed onto your face or applied with cotton.  This is perfect for fighting acne, hydrating, and brightening your skin.  The toner felt very refreshing.  I usually apply toners with cotton pads, but I liked using this as a mist.  At $20, it is a little pricey for a toner, but it should last you for a couple of months.

I've just never been able to get into applying deodorant with my hands.  Something about it squicks me out.  Because of that, the Purelygreat Cream Deodorant in Lavender isn't for me.  My lovely girlfriend, Emily, though, doesn't mind applying deodorant with her fingers.  She loved this.  Lavender is her favorite scent and she doesn't sweat much, so this was perfect for her.  Keep in mind, though, that this is not an antiperspirant, so, if you sweat a lot, this might not be quite what you are looking for.  Even though this is a white cream, the Purelygreat website says it won't stain your clothing.  When Emily and I tried it, we didn't notice any white marks on our clothing, so that was a plus because deodorant stains are the worst!

I've never had a shower steamer before, so Klēn's Aromatherapy Shower Steamer in Happy was a first for me.  It looks like a white bath bomb that has been cut in half.  You put it outside the direct stream of water in the shower and drip a little bit of water on it every couple of minutes to release the aromatherapeutic scents.  I didn't use the whole thing up in the first shower.  I am not sure if you are supposed to use the entire thing in one shower or not, but I put a small amount of water on it and got enough scent, so I still had most of the steamer at the end.  I'll use it again in my next shower.  The steamers come in three scents: Detox, Happy, and Energize.  Terra Bella subscribers received Happy.  Happy smells like jasmine and, according to the Klēn website, it is supposed to promote healthy skin, help with congestion, help you sleep, and have aphrodisiac, antidepressant, and antiseptic properties.   It was relaxing and I had a great night's sleep after using it.

Last but not least, there was the Woolin & Co. Handcrafted Soap in Ylang Ylang and Geranium.  Woolin & Co. made this scent especially for Terra Bella Box, so it is not available for sale in their online shop.  Geraniums are kind of stinky, so I wasn't sure what I would think of this.  Fortunately, it smells like Ylang Ylang and has a light, clean scent.  It contains avocado butter, mango butter, and shea butter and is very moisturizing.  Bar soap usually isn't my thing, but I liked this quite a bit.  Woolin & Co.'s soaps and packaging are so pretty, so I recommend checking out their Etsy shop (linked above in the list of this month's box contents).

Here's the spoiler for the June Terra Bella Box!  I love vitamin C serums and Dermadeli, so I can't wait to try the Dermadeli Invigorating Vitamin C Serum!

This was another fun box from Terra Bella!  I loved everything except the deodorant.  Emily ended up loving the deodorant, so the whole box was a hit in our household.  There was a good mix of makeup, skincare, and bath products.  I love that the box is never heavy on one product type, so there should always be something for everyone.  Meraki was the only company I was familiar with, so I was introduced to four new companies.  Terra Bella always has such wonderfully curated boxes and it's a treat to get it in the mail.  I'm definitely excited for the June box after seeing the spoiler.

What did you think of the May Terra Bella Box?  Did you find the eyeliner brush to make applying the liner easy?  I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
