It's time for the March wrap-up! I'll give a brief review of all the boxes I got this month. If you're interested in a more in-depth review of any of them, I'll include a link to the full review I did of each box. Just click on it to learn more! You'll be rewarded with adorable baby bunny pictures when you click through. Links to the individual products will also be in the main reviews. I don't have the time to link them all in this review tonight, unfortunately. Sometimes, after I've had a chance to try a product a little more, my opinion will change on it. When that happens, I make a note of it in the wrap-up. Also, there are two boxes in the wrap-up, Boxycharm and the 3B Box, that did not get individual reviews on my site. I'll explain that when I get to them!
The first four boxes are the more mainstream boxes. I've tried to group the boxes in the wrap-up by general box category.
The March DermStore BeautyFix box was worth an amazing $154.88! That's fabulous for a $24.95 box. I think that BeautyFix is one of the more underrated boxes out there. The Lip Quench wasn't for me; it was way sheerer than I expected. The Nick Chavez leave-in conditioner is wonderful if you need volume, but volume is the last thing I need. I thought the inclusion of the travel makeup bag was a little strange because I don't think it would work well as a makeup bag, but Emily likes it. I loved the Dr. Brandt Pore Thing, Batiste Dry Shampoo, Radical Skincare serum, Paula's Choice Vitamin C Spot Treatment, and Glytone sunscreen. Those are all great products that are worth checking out. The serum and spot treatment were my favorite products in the March BeautyFix box. I highly recommend suscribing to the BeautyFix box. It has quickly become one of my favorites!
My March ipsy Glam Bag was okay, but not amazing. The Nyx Cosmetics Liquid Suede Lipstick made my lips feel beyond dry, so that was not for me. I liked the quality of the Vera Mona eyeshadow, but I wish it were a different color. Pixi is an amazing brand that can be found at Target. I always love getting Pixi products because they are generally high quality, but inexpensive. The blush and highlighter duo were great colors and lasted all day on me. The Nourish Organic body oil absorbed really quickly, so it isn't the best for a massage, but it's great for some added moisture. I do wish it had a stronger rose scent to it. I liked how shiny the Margaret Dabbs Super Shiner Buffer, but it seemed to make my nails a little thin in spots. I didn't use it excessively, so that surprised me. Be careful with it, especially if your nails are thin or brittle.
I got the curated Birchbox in March. After I chose this box, I had some regrets. I wasn't a fan of the Milk lipstick at all because the color just was not me. The Kiehl's face cream sample was too small for me to determine how well it actually worked. I've liked Parlor products before, but this spray just made my hair look puffy, so that was a miss for me. I liked the Smashbox mini palette and Wilma Schumann eye pads, but that was it. I wish I had just taken my chances and not gone with the curated box.
The Glossybox this month was one of the more disappointing Glossyboxes I've gotten! The Vine Vera day cream was the only product I had any interest in. I love Too Faced Melted lipsticks, but I already had one in the same color, Chihuahua. The Luxie brush worked well, as did the Eyeko eyeliner, but I've gotten so many eyeliners and brushes in boxes lately! I don't need more! The I Love... lotion was not for me at all. The formula was very thin and felt cheap to me. This wasn't the most impressive Glossy.
Next up, we have the natural/vegan/organic-type boxes. These boxes usually end up being my favorites. There are so many high quality vegan beauty products out there that are made by small companies and would be hard to find on my own.
The March Petit Vour was amazing! I love the Suki Transformative Purifying Mask! I've been using it as a spot treatment on pimples that have popped up and it helps heal them much faster than usual. I can't recommend this product enough! While I liked it when I wrote the original review, I am loving it even more now that I have been able to see such good results with it! I also loved the Lauren B dual base and top coat. It dries quickly and smoothly and protects my nails. If you're in the market for a good base and/or top coat, look no further. The Little Barn Apothecary Beauty Mist is the perfect thing to use after washing your face at night. It's very soothing. Little Barn Apothecary made the mist exclusively for Petit Vour. It hadn't gone up on the Petit Vour site when I first wrote the review, but it's up now, so I've linked it here. The Yarok shampoo ended up being a little too moisturizing for my hair. I would recommend not using it for back to back shampoos unless your hair is very dry. It made my hair a little greasy after I used it the second time. My hair looked amazing after the first time, so I think it was just a little too much moisture in too short a time period.
This month's Kloverbox was heavier on the home and lifestyle products than it was on beauty. I love getting the occasional box that is lighter on the beauty stuff, and Kloverbox is always great at choosing the perfect products for me! Okay, maybe they're not chosen for me, but it almost feels like they are. Emily loved the Vana Body Coconut clay mask. She has used it a few times. With all the masks we have from my boxes, if one is used multiple times, you know it has to be good! The lavender scent to this is pretty strong, so keep that in mind if you are considering buying this mask. I loved the Buckaroo Organics laundry detergent. I've never gotten detergent in a box before! It cleans my clothes as well as any regular detergent. My clothes didn't have any noticeable scent on them when I used this, which was fine with me. The Paddywax candle I got was in Rosemary Sea Salt. I didn't really smell rosemary, but the candle had a fresh, sporty, ocean-y scent that was reminiscent of aftershave. It was a little on the masculine side, but I loved it. The Bagito reusable bag is really sturdy and has a cute print designed by Kloverbox and printed by Inkredible Image. Everything in my Kloverbox was a hit this month!
The LaRitzy Box this month was solid. The Juice Beauty eye cream has become one of my favorite eye creams. It was very moisturizing and it has lots of great antioxidants for your skin. The Deco Miami nail polish was a gorgeous, summery color and the formula was amazing. This polish is 8-free. They have the cutest bottles and boxes, so that is an added bonus. I was surprised by how much I liked the Lippy Girl Extra Virgin Vegan Lip Gloss! I usually hate lip glosses, but this was a clear gloss that wasn't sticky and felt more like an extremely hydrating lip balm. The Modern Minerals eyeshadow formula is amazing, but the color just wasn't for me. I'm going to be passing it along to my mom.
The Terra Bella Box this month was perfect for spring. The Dermadeli Pumpkin Seed Serum has so many ingredients that are wonderful for your skin. I could have used this in the winter when my skin was beyond dry, but this will be perfect to have on hand whenever I get a dry patch. This smells just like pumpkin seeds coming out of the oven, not like pumpkin spice, so I liked the scent a lot more than I expected. The Bella and Beau Botanicals bubble bath smells great and makes mounds of bubbles. Emily has really enjoyed it. My bunnies approve of this product because it is a bunny-run company, believe it or not. Bella and Beau are both Holland Lops and completely adorable! The Cricket Cove Soap Company Cuticle Butter was great on my nails and cuticles. I'm still in love with the Lunasea Botanicals face cleanser. It gets off every last bit of makeup and leaves my face feeling hydrated and tight. The Moody Sisters Lip Balm didn't have much tint to it, but it worked perfectly as a moisturizing lip balm. Overall, March was an amazing month for Terra Bella!
Next up, we have the three Korean beauty boxes plus Boxycharm.
The March Beauteque BB Bag was a lot of fun. The lipstick wasn't for me, but all the other products were fabulous. The fuchsia thing above is a makeup brush cleaner. It actually encouraged me to clean my makeup brushes! That almost never happens (don't be like me!), so that was a good thing. I love the Urban Dollkiss BB Cream. I'm so sad I'm almost out of it! It provides a lot of coverage for a BB cream. As you might know, I love everything snail, so the Mizon snail eye cream was perfect for me. The COSRX pimple patches didn't work quite as well as the Peter Thomas Roth patches I got a couple of months ago in BeautyFix, but they are also way less expensive, so it's a trade-off. Finally, The Face Shop Fresh Milk Cream smells so good and is extremely moisturizing and even brightens your skin. It comes in a huge container for a moisturizer and it's relatively inexpensive.
This month's Beauteque Mask Maven had a great selection of masks this month. The theme was Good Energy Garden. We've loved every mask we've used so far. If we had to choose favorites, Emily's was the My Beauty Diary Rose Moisturizing Essence Mask and mine was the Missha Lotus Flower Mask. Because there are so many masks in this subscription, I'm not going to describe them all in this quick overview. If you want more info on any of them, click on the link.
I did not do an individual review of the 3B Box this month. I had canceled this subscription last month, but 3B messed up and did not cancel it and charged me. Fortunately, when I brought it to their attention, they refunded my money. The box was already in the mail, so they told me to enjoy it. I contacted them a few times on their website and never got a response. I ended up posting my customer service issues on their Facebook and then they finally corrected everything for me. I'm not sure why they aren't answering subscribers who contact them on their site, but other subscribers also complained of the issue, so it wasn't just me.
If I had gotten this 3B Box last month, I wouldn't have canceled. The March 3B was a big improvement over the February box, in my opinion. I was really happy to get the Secret Key Witch Hazel Toner. Witch hazel is great for getting rid of pimples, so this will be the perfect product for me during certain times of the month. The Skin Food Mascara was a little clumpy for me, so I won't be using it. I have yet to try the Dermal Sea Cucumber Supreme Mask. Finally, there were COSRX Blackhead Silk Finger Balls. These are hollow balls that you soak in water for a couple of minutes, then you put your finger inside the ball. You rub the ball on the parts of your face that need some exfoliating or blackhead removal. I didn't notice any real difference after using these, but I also don't get blackheads. The 3B this month was worth approximately $32, which isn't bad at all for a $12 box. This wasn't a good enough month to make me want to resubscribe, but it blows the February 3B out of the water.
The March Boxycharm box was a big disappointment, so I decided not to do an individual review of it. I was so upset with their customer service. I subscribed to Boxycharm last year and ended up canceling after a number of disappointing boxes. Boxycharm seemed to be improving, so I decided to give them another chance. I was considering Boxycharm and a couple of other boxes, but a spoiler Boxycharm put up on Facebook and Instagram was what pushed me into the Boxycharm camp. The spoiler said that each subscriber would get a Makeup Geek duochrome and matte eyeshadow. I've heard fabulous things about Makeup Geek, but have never tried their products. While matte eyeshadow isn't my thing, I absolutely love duochromes and I could not wait to try it. A few days after I subscribed, Boxycharm changed the spoiler and said that subscribers would get a duochrome or a shimmer. Of course, they sent me a shimmer. If they had advertised that subscribers would get a duochrome or shimmer originally, I wouldn't have subscribed because I have a million shimmers. I subscribed only because I saw the duochrome advertised. I understand there are product variations in boxes, but if a beauty box company advertises a particular item in a spoiler and people subscribe because of that spoiler, they can't just swap out that item for something else. I asked Boxycharm to either send me a duochrome or refund my money and they refused. Because of this, I canceled my subscription again. Maybe it seems silly to get upset over an eyeshadow, but if I spend my hard earned money on a box because of a spoiler, then that item better be in my box.
It's a shame Boxycharm did that and lost me permanently as a customer because I actually liked the March box quite a bit. The Makeup Geek eyeshadow formula is amazing, but I would have loved to have tried the duochrome. I liked the Luxie Beauty makeup brush, although I am currently on makeup brush overload. The Chella brow pencil was okay, but it was a little too dry and broke easily. I've tried the Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris perfume before and liked it, so I was happy to see a travel size in my box. It's a little too sweet for me, so I won't use it regularly, but it'll definitely get some use.
The Clark's Botanicals Anti-Puff Eye Cream is a full size product worth $87! That is a pretty impressive value. There was an issue with this product, though. It worked really well, so that was fine, but not every subscriber got this product. There are variations in boxes, of course, but subscribers who didn't get this product were understandably upset because they got an OFRA Cosmetics Charming Glow product instead. The issue subscribers had with this is that the OFRA product is worth $39.95 and the eye cream is worth $87. Subscribers who got a box that is worth $47 less than other March Boxycharm boxes were understandably annoyed because it is a huge difference. When you have box variations, you expect the values to be off by a few bucks, but not by almost $50. Boxycharm messed up big time with subscribers this month and they need to be working to rebuild their reputation and regaining subscribers' trust.
I got two quarterly boxes this month, so I put them together down here. This was my first Beautycon box. Amor Naturals was the other quarterly box and it is always a favorite.
The spring Beautycon Box was curated by Bunny, aka Grav3yard Girl. I'm not all that familiar with Bunny, but I have a general idea of her style. While her style and mine are not all that similar, as you might have noticed, I respect her and like that she does her own thing. Beautycon used to call their box the Beautycon BFF Box, but they dropped the BFF from the name. In the past, Beautycon chose curators who were in their teens or early twenties, so the box seemed a little young for me. Bunny is closer to my age, so I wanted to check this box out. I'm so happy I finally have beautyblenders! They really are a great product, so I now understand why people rave about it. There were quite a few products in this box, so I will ask you to just click on the link to read the review if you're interested in learning more about this box. The next quarter has a young curator again, Teala Dunn, so I canceled for now. If I see spoilers for the summer box that interest me, I'm open to resubscribing. I'm taking a wait-and-see approach.
Last, but certainly not least, was the spring Amor Naturals box! I think every reader who has commented about Amor Naturals either on my Jezebel articles or over here on my own site has had only good things to say about this box. A married couple makes all these products by hand and they really put their heart into it. The mask was exfoliating and made my skin feel so soft. I didn't love the scent of the mask, but it wasn't so strong as to keep me from using it. The Coco Mint Lip Scrub smelled yummy and got all that dry skin off my lips. The moisture balm and Rose Essence were fabulous, too. I have yet to be able to try the bath salts, but I can't wait!
March was a great month overall! It's so hard to pick a favorite! I have a lot of favorites this month and can't choose only one. DermStore BeautyFix, Amor Naturals, Kloverbox, Petit Vour, Beauteque BB Bag, and Terra Bella are probably my favorites this month. I know that's a lot of favorites to have, but that's just how it is.
April is my birth month (4/29!!!), so I am hoping that the boxes all knock it out of the park. My birthday is my favorite day of the year. I can't wait for the boxes to start coming in again.
Did you have any favorite boxes this month? What did you think of March? I'd love to hear what you think!
