Glossybox Sale Box Review

Glossybox, sale of boxes from previous months, $15 (no longer available)

Glossybox was having a sale on boxes from previous months for $15 each.  This sale is no longer going on. I limited myself to one box, so it was a hard decision.  I chose one of the versions of the October French Glossybox.  This was unlike other sales of past boxes Glossybox has had.  In sales I've seen before, you bought a random box and had no idea which past box you would get.  I liked having the option to choose not only the month, but the different product selections from each month.  The only downside to being able to choose my own box was that they charged more per box during this sale than they did during the sales of random boxes.

Here's what I got:

The Paris Glossybox I got was worth $75.01.  Not bad for a $15 sale box!  I was jealous of the solid perfumes other subscribers were getting in their October 2015 Glossyboxes, so I chose a box that included one of the Sabé Masson perfumes.  I already had the lipgloss, hair treatment, and nail lacquer.  I couldn't find the nail polish or the lipgloss for sale online, so I used the values Glossybox listed for them.

The Phyto thermal spray was very popular with Glossybox subscribers when it came in the October box!  It contains lots of good stuff for your hair -- keratin to repair hair, mushroom extract to seal the keratin in and prevent heat damage, hyaluronic acid for moisture, and ceramides for hair cuticle health.  It is a leave-in treatment meant to protect your hair when you are blow drying and heat styling and it can be used wet or dry.  Personally, I don't blow dry or heat style, but I gave it a try anyway and loved the extra shine it gave my hair.  My dear friend, Emma, absolutely loved this stuff!  I liked it a lot, but I have tons of hair treatments I'll probably never use up, so I'm going to send this to her as I still have most of the bottle I got in October.

The Vichy Idéalia Skin Sleep is a moisturizer/sleep masque that contains caffeine (great for puffiness reduction), vitamin B3 (good for exfoliation),  and hyaluronic acid (meant to moisturize and plump up the skin), which is the perfect recipe to make your face look well-rested and healthy.  I love this stuff.  After putting your serum on before bed, use this in place of your regular moisturizer and let it do its work overnight.  I haven't been sleeping well lately and that has really taken its toll on my skin.  This hasn't been a miracle product, but it has helped my face look less tired.  They recommend using it a week straight to see the best results.  I haven't used it that many days in a row yet, but I'm hoping it will repair my skin even more if I continue using it.  This isn't an enormous sample, but it's big enough that I will be able to use it a number of times and see if there is a good improvement over a week or two.

As I say all the time, I am just not a lipgloss person.  This wasn't for me.  The sheer red is a pretty color and quite flattering on me, but I hate the stickiness of a gloss.  This was no exception.  It didn't stay on all that long and I didn't like how it felt, so this is something I would recommend passing on.  Even if you do love glosses, this isn't an exceptional product and I would still encourage you to skip this.

While I didn't like the lipgloss, I thought it was nice that Glossybox included a matching lip color and nail polish.  This was an okay nail polish.  It gave me a sheer red color after one coat and an opaque red after two coats.  The lacquer dried quickly and stayed on for a couple of days.  I'll use this occasionally, but it is nothing I would ever buy myself.

Finally, there was the Sabé Masson Le Soft Perfume in Umabel.  This is a solid perfume stick that you apply in the places your normally apply your perfume.  I was so excited for this!  Sadly, I didn't like the scent that much.  The boxes came with a variety of scents of this perfume and there was no way to choose which scent you wanted, so I knew it was a little risky to buy this box.  Umabel isn't disgusting, but it's never anything I would have chosen on my own.  I keep using it and hoping it will grow on me more, but it hasn't so far.  It has top notes of peach and bergamot, mid notes of iris, freesia, and rose, and base notes of sandalwood, amber, and musk.  I can smell the base notes as soon as I apply the perfume and find the top and mid notes are weak in comparison.  I'll use it occasionally, but I don't see this becoming a favorite of mine.

This was a somewhat disappointing box.  I bought it mostly for the solid perfume and ended up not loving the fragrance.  The Vichy Idéalia Skin Sleep is fabulous, so I'm happy I got that, and Emma will be happy to get the Phytokératine treatment.  I'll end up giving the lipgloss and nail polish away as I already have those and wasn't a big fan of them to begin with.

Did you buy one of the sale boxes?  What did you think?  If you got a stick perfume, did you get a good scent?  Are you glad you got one of these sale boxes or do you wish you had passed?
