Glossybox, $21 per month US, has many international versions
This cutie's eyes matched the box! She's getting so big!
Glossybox is a monthly beauty box that sends subscribers five to six makeup, hair care, and/or skincare products. The products are often deluxe sample size and occasionally full size. Previously, all subscribers received the same products, but Glossybox has had a lot of variation this year. This was one of my favorite boxes, but it has really gone downhill. The brands used to be high end, but now I've often never heard of the brands. I keep hoping that Glossybox will go back to what it used to be, but it's not looking good at this point. Their December box is usually the best box of the year, so I'm hoping next month will be good.
Here's what I got this month:
- Beautiful Nutrition Grapefruit Detox Shine Repair Shampoo (small sample, worth ~$1.85; full size costs $12)
- De Bruyère Pearly Eyeshadow Pencil in Bubble 07 (full size, worth $15.95)
- Gerard Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Ecstasy (full size, worth $16)
- Lycopene Skincare Crema Rinnovante (deluxe sample, worth ~$11(?); full size costs $44.25)
The product information card also listed the Palmetto Derma Rejuvenating Antioxidant Mask, but that was missing from my box. It was supposed to be a deluxe size sample worth $12.43 and the full size costs $64. I let Glossybox know and they told me they would send me one, but I have yet to get it. I was trying to hold off on writing the review until I got it, but it doesn't look like it will get here before the end of the month. I rarely have problems with missing or broken products, but when I do, it's almost always Glossybox. Sometimes I haven't even bothered letting them know because I get so frustrated and annoyed.
Without the Palmetto Derma mask, my box is worth about $44.80; if Glossybox sends me the replacement, it will be worth about $57.23. The sizes of the Lycopene Skincare Crema Rinnovante and the Beautiful Nutrition shampoo weren't listed on the packaging, so I had to estimate how big they were. My container of the Lycopene cream was only half full, so I guessed it was about 0.25 ounces (full size being 1 oz.). My mom said hers was full, so I don't believe it was supposed to be only half full, but I've had others tell me they had the same problem.
The first product was the Beautiful Nutrition Grapefruit Detox Shine Repair Shampoo. This smells great and gave me some added shine. I got a different Beautiful Nutrition product in a Glossybox about a year ago and loved it, so I was happy to try a new product from them. I shampooed with this and really liked how it made my hair look. It is supposed to remove buildup from your hair and it seems to be quite good at doing that. I wish the sample were a little bit bigger, though.
Glossybox puts a lot of De Bruyère products in their boxes. I've never seen a De Bruyère product outside of Glossy and I always have a hard time finding their products online. I liked the color of this eyeshadow pencil, but it's a color I have a lot of already. This went on smoothly, but it didn't last all day.
The Gerard Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Ecstasy is a gorgeous color and was just about perfect for my OCC Lip Tar in Lydia. This worked well -- it kept my lipstick within the lines and held up all day. I prefer clear lip liner as it can work with any color and I can overline my lips without making them look tacky, but this is a great lip pencil if you like colored liners.
Finally, there was the Lycopene Skincare Crema Rinnovante. As you can see, one half of the container is emptyThis is supposed to be moisturizing and have anti-aging benefits. I used it a few times and found it to be pretty moisturizing, but there was nothing about it that made it stand out.
I've tried the Palmetto Derma Rejuvenating Antioxidant Mask before and had good luck with it, but I'd have to try it again to remember all the details. I've heard people with sensitive skin say that it caused redness and irritation, so be careful and do a spot test if you are worried you might have a reaction.
Glossybox didn't have a product sneak peek for December, but they did show us what the box would look like. This might be my favorite December Glossybox design. I hope the contents are equally as impressive.
Ignoring the fact that one of the products was missing, this was an okay month for Glossybox. I loved the Beautiful Nutrition shampoo and the Gerard Cosmetics Lip Pencil, but the De Bruyère eyeshadow and the Lycopene cream were just okay. The Palmetto Derma mask would have added another point in its favor. I'm really hoping that Glossy will knock it out of the park in December.
What did you think of the November Glossybox? Did you get the same products I did? What was your favorite product? Was your Lycopene cream full?
