Petit Vour Review, December 2016

Petit Vour, $15 per month US, $23 per month Canada, $25 per month other countries

This cute little guy, a month-old Siamese Mini Satin, had fun modeling with the Petit Vour buns.  He and his brother and sisters have gotten very active recently and are all working hard on their hopping skills.  It's adorable!

Petit Vour is a monthly vegan and cruelty-free beauty box.  Subscribers receive four sample size (and occasionally full size) products per month.  There is sometimes variation, but not always.  If you're new to vegan beauty, Petit Vour is one of the best ways to get an introduction to the different brands and products available.

Petit Vour sent me this box free of charge to review.  There are affiliate links in this post.

Here's what I got this month:

My December Petit Vour box was worth about $39.98,  which is more than 2.5 times the subscription price.  That's pretty average for Petit Vour.  I had to estimate the value of the hair serum as no size was listed on the packets.  This month, we got a makeup product, a skincare product, a hair care product, and a bath product, so we got a really good mix!

First up is the Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath and Shower Oil.  This is a product unlike any other I've tried before.  To use this, you're supposed to massage a capful of the oil into your torso, breathe in the scent that is left on your hands, then get in the shower..  It's supposed to have aromatherapeutic effects.  I'm a night showerer, so I wish I had gotten the Revive Evening version of this, but I still gave the Revive Morning a try.  This contains grapefruit, rosemary, and juniper essential oils to help energize you for the day.  I didn't notice much of a scent after a minute, but I don't think I used enough.  The full size version says you can get 20 uses out of it and this is 1/18th the size of the full size, so I probably should have just used the entire thing at once.

Swatch of Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Luminous Lip Crayon in Salinas

Next up is the Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Luminous Lip Crayon in Salinas.  Subscribers received different colors of this lip crayon.  As you may know, I have mixed feelings about Juice Beauty.  If you subscribe to any sort of green beauty box, you can expect to see some Juice Beauty products at some point.  To get the color you see in the swatch above, I really had to build it up.  This is one of the MLBB (My Lips But Better) lipsticks -- it gave me a little color, but not much, so it looks like a slightly better version of my natural lip color.  It's pretty, but I prefer something bolder.  Has anyone else tried this product?  Are the other colors like that, too?

The OILLE Volumizing Intelligence Hair Serum is, as you probably guessed, a volumizer, so I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it.  To use it to get some extra volume, you're suppose to wet your hair, apply the serum, massage it into your roots for one to two minutes, then shampoo.  It also can be used on dry hair to help with flyaways.  I didn't want extra volume and the cold, dry winter weather always gives me tons of flyaways, so I used a little on my hair to try to take care of them.  It did an excellent job keeping my flyaways in check and even added a little shine to my hair.  Has anyone tried this for volume?  Did it work well?

Finally, there was the Shamanuti Activated Charcoal Cleanser.  I love charcoal cleansers and masks because the charcoal helps draw out impurities.  This also contains maple extract to help exfoliate.  This is perfect for fighting acne.  It has a bit of a weird smell to it, but it's tolerable.  They also recommend using it as a body wash or shaving cream, but it's a little expensive to use it that way, in my opinion.  I loved this a facial cleanser and found it made my skin feel so clean.

I'm happy with the December Petit Vour.  It's not my favorite Petit Vour ever, but it's not bad.  The Shamanuti Activated Charcoal Cleanser was definitely my favorite product this month, but I also liked the Oille serum and the Aromatherapy Associates shower oil.  The Juice Beauty lip crayon wasn't for me as I prefer a more dramatic color, but it wasn't a bad product.  What did you think of the December Petit Vour?  Were there any variations this month besides the lip crayon color?
