Birchbox is probably the most popular box out there.  They are known for having small samples of higher-end products.  They tend to be heavier on skincare than makeup, although they have a mix of product types every month.  Subscribers fill out a survey about their beauty concerns and preferences and Birchbox customizes boxes based on those surveys.  Birchbox usually has values in the $20-$30 range.

The contents of my December Birchbox:

My December Birchbox was worth $29.30.  That's almost three times the price of the box, so not bad at all there.  The box this month was so pretty!  I know it looks like it's white and black in the top picture, but it was actually white with silver.  Birchbox often has really pretty designs for their boxes.  They have a different one every  month.  I always save them for present boxes.

The Jouer Matte Moisture Tint came in Linen, which was a little dark for me.  It was a pretty sheer formula, though, so I was able to make it work.  It had good coverage to it and was great at evening out skin tone.  Best of all, it has sunblock in it (SPF 15), so it gives you a little added protection.  So many people don't think to wear sunblock in the winter, but the sun's rays are still harmful even when it's cold!  Sun damage is one of the quickest ways to get wrinkles, so be sure to protect your skin year-round.

This was a good size sample of the Serge Normant Dream Big Instant Volumizing Spray.  I wish there was a way to make it so I was never sent a volumizing product again.  I get them constantly and the last thing my hair needs is more volume!  When I was with my ex, she was always a willing guinea pig for volumizers because she had thin, flat hair, but Emily, my current girlfriend, has thick hair, too.  I try out the volumizers just so I can give them an honest review, but I hate doing it.  The Serge Normant spray worked quite well.  It added a lot of volume.  I ended up looking like a puffball.  If you need volume, give this a try.

The gorge I'll make you look amazing daily spray is a leave-in conditioner that does a little bit of everything.  It moisturizes your hair, smooths it out, adds shine, helps detangle, and prevents split ends and breakage.   I liked the effect this had my hair.  It definitely added a little shine to it and helped keep the flyaways down.  I'm always looking for good detanglers, so this was a nice discovery.  I probably would't buy it, but I'm happy to have the sample.

I've never been a fan of Coastal Scents.  I'm all for lower priced makeup when it works as well as (if not better than) higher end makeup, but I've never found that to be the case with Coastal Scents.  The other Coastal Scents eyeshadows I've tried have lacked pigment and staying power.  I found the same to be true of this eyeshadow sampler.  I don't recommend it.  Has anyone had luck with Coastal Scents products?  If so, which ones?

I really liked the (Malin + Goetz) Clarifying Clay Mask!  While anyone can use this mask, it is targeted toward those with oily skin and/or acne.  The combination of kaolin clay, arnica, witch hazel, and pumice make this little mask a powerhouse.  My skin looked much improved after using this.  If you have pimples or excessive oil and can afford $48 on a nice clay mask, I highly recommend this product.

I liked the gorge hair product, the (Malin + Goetz) mask, and the Jouer tint quite a bit.  I would recommend any of those.  The Serge Normant wasn't for me, but if you need volume, you should check it out.  I definitely recommend against the Coastal Scents eyeshadow.  If you don't want to spend much money on eyeshadow, there are lots of better ones out there than Coastal Scents that aren't that expensive.

What did you get in your Birchbox?  Did you like everything this month?  And, also, what is your favorite drugstore brand eyeshadow?  I hope to get a post up about which drugstore brands are worth a try and which ones you should pass on, so if you have any product recommendations, let me know!
