Ipsy is one of the biggest beauty subscriptions out there.  Each month, it includes five items plus a special Glambag, a makeup bag with a different design each month.  Ipsy chooses which items to send you based on a survey you fill out upon joining, so not everyone will get the same products each month.  I pay for my Ipsy subscription.

The following items were in my November Ipsy bag:

My November Ipsy Glam Bag was worth $68.99.  That is a remarkable value for a $10 bag!  Ipsy almost always beats Birchbox in terms of value, I find, but Ipsy also often has lower-end brands than Birchbox does.  Generally, Ipsy has more makeup and bigger sample sizes, while Birchbox is heavier on the skincare and has smaller sample sizes.  Obviously, this isn't true every month, but, more often than not, that has been my experience.

Usually, I don't care all that much about the makeup bag that the Ipsy samples come in, but this month's was really pretty!  I love the space theme.

The Jelly Pong Pong is a nice, full size highlighter.  It seems pretty small for a full size product, but it should last a while because you don't need to use all that much.  It offered a nice, subtle sheen to the areas I need highlighted and it lasted all day.  I can be picky about my highlighters, but this one will actually make it into my rotation.

The INSPR Beauty Eyeshadow was the second full size product in the Glambag.  It's your average eyeshadow in a pale, neutral color.  The pigment wasn't quite what I was hoping for and it didn't hold up very well, even with my Urban Decay primer on.  My girlfriend, Emily, really liked the color and kept the eyeshadow.  I don't know about everyone else, but I'm a little tired of pale neutral eyeshadows in my beauty subscriptions.  I get that they throw them in because they think they are universally flattering, but they are just so boring.  I'd rather take a risk and try a bold, beautiful color that may or may not work out.  That's why I love beauty boxes -- I want to be forced out of my comfort zone and try new things that I wouldn't have looked twice at in a store.  That is how I have made my best beauty discoveries!  Maybe bright orange eyeshadow isn't for everyone, but it's more fun to try than the hundredth shimmery beige eyeshadow I've gotten this year.

The LeeAnni Eco Go Away Gloomy Day Serum is thinner than most serums I've used.  I thought the sample was quite small, so I was surprised to learn that it was half size!  It contains a lot of great things for your skin, such as aloe, lavender, rosehip oil, honey, and vitamin E, so it's a little powerhouse serum.  It smelled great and felt refreshing on my skin after using my toner.  This is a fabulous product with ingredients that are good for you, so I definitely recommend it.

If there is one thing I hate more than pale, neutral eyeshadow, it's nude lipstick.  The tre'StiQue Nantucket Nude lip crayon looked hideous on me.  I've never gotten a lipstick quite this color in a subscription box, so I guess it's good I was able to give it a try.  Still, I hated it.  I can't speak to the longevity of this lipstick because I removed it immediately.  There was no way I was leaving the house with that stuff on.  I'm sure there are people for whom it is a flattering color, so perhaps someone who liked the color will comment below and tell us how long the color lasted, whether it feathered, whether it was drying, etc.

Last but not least, I got a Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara.  I like most Smashbox products, so I was looking forward to trying this.  Fortunately, it did not disappoint.  I have very thick lashes that are medium length.  Because my lashes are so thick, it can be difficult to find mascara that doesn't make them clump together.  This mascara gave me both amazing length and perfect definition.  There wasn't a clump in sight.  I hope I get more of this mascara in another box soon so I don't have to go out and buy more after I use it up!

I loved the space Glambag, the LeeAnni Eco Serum, the Smashbox mascara, and Jelly Pong Pong highlighter.  The nude tre'StiQue lip crayon and the INSPR Beauty eyeshadow were just not for me.  All in all, I would say this was a good month for Ipsy.  There were a couple of misses, but the hits made up for them.  What did you think of your Ipsy bag this month?  I would love to hear all about your November Ipsy in the comments!
