November 2015 DermStore BeautyFix Review

Dermstore BeautyFix

$24.95 per month, US only

This is my first time getting Dermstore’s BeautyFix box. It is normally $24.95 a month, but they had a sale for new subscribers to try this month’s box for $12.48.  Seeing the spoilers and the sale convinced me I had to give it a try! BeautyFix is supposed to be worth more than $100 every month, so it’s one of the better values out there. It seems to have more skincare and hair care than makeup, but the occasional makeup product makes an appearance.

Here’s what I got in my first BeautyFix box:

The November BeautyFix box was worth $112.17. That’s a great value!  I think the deal for the first month half off is still available, so I recommend signing up before the end of the month if you want this box!

The Eminence Stone Crop Hydrating Mist was a new product to me.  I know there are tons of aloe products out there, and a few cactus gels, but I didn't know that skincare products could be made out of stone crop (aka sedum, for all you gardeners out there).  Succulents are amazing plants!  This had a light scent to it, similar to aloe but with a bit of a sour note.  It wasn't my favorite scent, but it was tolerable.  This mist is supposed to moisturize, tone, and even out your complexion.  I used it mostly as a toner after I washed my face.  It takes only a couple sprays to cover your entire face, so this sample should last quite a while.  I didn't notice any great effects from this product, but it's hard to see results after using it for only a week. I will keep using this.  It felt very refreshing.

The sample of the Glytone Antioxidant Anti-Aging Night Cream was very, very small.  It was one-tenth of the full size.  In my opinion, there is no way to see anti-aging effects with such a small sample.  It was very creamy and went on smoothly, but I can't speak to anti-aging results.

The Skinclinical Extreme Healing Daily Treatment is simply amazing.  I just got a tiny sample of this, but I saw results immediately.  According to the Skinclinical website, the Skinclinical Extreme Healing Daily Treatment "treats severely dry, delicate, itchy, red, inflamed, wounded, scarred or chapped skin caused by eczema, psoriasis, diabetes, superficial wounds, aging, environmental exposure, light skin peels and laser treatments, early stage pressure sores and changes caused by chemotherapy and radiation therapy."  For the first time ever, the skin on my hands has gotten so dry it has cracked.  This stuff is a miracle cure.  I put it on my hands at night and saw significant improvement in the morning.  This works better than the snail treatment, I think, although the snail treatments do work well and generally cost less.  If you need something healed quickly, I recommend spending the $40 on this.

I loved the Dermelect ME Nail Polish in Stunner, a deep bronze.  It's such a great fall color!  Subscribers could get different colors.  I didn't have anything quite like this color in my very extensive nail polish collection.  Brown nail polish sounds kind of boring, but there is dimension to this polish because of the sparkles.  It's just gorgeous.  I got great coverage after just one coat, so that is always a huge plus with nail polish.  I don't know about you, but I hate waiting around for my nail polish to dry and I usually end up smudging it because of my impatience.  Whenever I can get away with one coat, I'm a happy girl.  Also, Dermelect says this is the first anti-aging color polish.  It has peptides in it and it's 3-free (i.e., free of DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde).

The REN Skincare mask does a little bit of everything.  Most masks have very specific applications, but this mask exfoliates, brightens, helps with blackheads and acne, and has anti-aging properties.  There's a reason people say "jack of all trades, master of none."  While this mask is a nice compromise if you need all those effects at once, if you only need one or two effects, I would choose a more specialized mask.  I noticed pretty significant brightening after rinsing this mask off, so I would recommend it if you need to even out your skin tone or get rid of those annoying dark spots left behind by pimples.

The DermStore Eye Love You brush set just doesn't seem to be the best quality to me.  It is good for travel because the brushes are quite short, and it will work in a pinch, but I just wouldn't make these the brushes I use regularly.

I've gotten Tocca hand cream before, but I had never tried the Giulietta scent.  Subscribers got either Giulietta (a pink tulip and green apple scent), Stella (Italian blood orange), or Cleopatra (grapefruit and cucumber).  I had been hoping for Stella, but I'm happy I got Giulietta.  I never would have chosen a pink tulip and green apple scent myself, but I ended up loving it.  I've grown tons of tulips and never noticed any having a particular scent, so I'm not sure what a pink tulip is supposed to smell like, but I liked it.  I'm sure scented tulips are out there, I just haven't encountered them.  This isn't quite as moisturizing as I would like, but it does provide some moisture and leaves you with a light scent for a short period of time.  It's a great size to carry around in your purse for whenever your hands are feeling dry.

Finally, there was the Oscar Blandi Dry Teasing Dust.  This bottle is quite small, but it is actually full size.  It did add volume and texture, which are two things my hair does not need, but it had a bit of stickiness to it.  This isn't the product for me, but if you want to tease up your roots, give this a try.

I loved my first BeautyFix box.  The value was amazing, especially with the half off coupon, and I got to try a lot of new products.  I loved the Skinclinical Treatment, the Dermelect nail polish, and the Tocca hand cream and thought the Eminence mist, Glytone cream, and REN mask were okay.  The brushes and Oscar Blandi Dry Teasing Dust weren't for me.  Overall, this box was quite impressive and I'm willing to stick around for the December box and pay full price for it.  It was very smart of them to offer this box half off because I'm sure most people who took advantage of the offer will like the November box enough to continue their subscriptions.
